Hydrogen inhalation means breathing a hydrogen-containing gas produced by a purpose-built generator, normally through a nasal cannula or another delivery accessory specified for that device.
Hydrogen and oxyhydrogen are related, but not identical
A hydrogen inhalation system and an oxyhydrogen system may use electrolysis, but their gas output and product instructions can differ. An oxyhydrogen system generates a mixture containing hydrogen and oxygen. A hydrogen inhaler may be designed around a different output composition or delivery setup.
Do not transfer a session time, flow rate, accessory, cleaning step or safety instruction from one model to another merely because both involve hydrogen.

What does the research establish?
Researchers have studied molecular hydrogen using different delivery methods, populations, concentrations, session lengths and outcomes. Results from a laboratory model, a small clinical study or hydrogen-rich water cannot automatically be applied to a consumer inhalation device.
For that reason, Velta separates three questions: what a machine measurably produces, whether it meets exact-model safety and quality requirements, and whether human evidence supports a particular health outcome. Evidence for one does not automatically prove the others.
Practical safety comes first
- Keep away from ignition: no smoking, vaping, candles, sparks or open flames around hydrogen-generating equipment.
- Use ventilation: operate only in the environment specified by the manufacturer; do not cover ventilation openings.
- Do not store generated gas: never improvise bags, tanks, tubing or connectors.
- Use the exact accessories: do not substitute a cannula, mask or splitter unless the product documentation allows it.
- Follow the correct water and cleaning routine: water quality and hygiene requirements vary by model.
- Stop if something is wrong: discontinue use and contact support if the equipment is damaged, leaking, unusually hot, noisy or behaving unexpectedly.
How long should a session be?
There is no single session length that can responsibly be recommended for every device and person. Follow the exact product instructions and Velta’s current product-specific guidance. Longer is not automatically better, and a study protocol is not a universal consumer dose.
